Barton Marina Christmas Market cancelled

Barton Marina Christmas Market cancelled

The annual Christmas Market was due to take place on Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th December at Barton Marina. The two day market attracts thousands of visitors and in the region of 40 stalls, entertainment & activities.

However, the organisers have announced the event is being cancelled due to safety concerns during the Pandemic.

Jamie Walker of CJ's Events Warwickshire said: 'Following consultation with Barton Marina we have decided to cancel this years Barton Marina Christmas Market. The event attracts thousands of visitors over the two days, and during the current stages of the pandemic, we'd be unable to hold this event safely.

'Applications have been closed whilst we look at ways we could operate this market safely, but due to the footfall we attract, there is no possible way to ensure this remains a free, safe event.

'As always, this decision hasn't been taken lightly and cancelling events have a massive financial impact for us and our traders, but public health of our communities must be a priority. We do not want to contribute towards a spike or in particular a local lockdown.

'We continue to invest time and money into ensuring we can operate our weekly and monthly markets for our communities, which have a manageable attendance. We hope next year becomes a much more successful year for us all.

'We look forward to returning in 2021
