Local markets across Warwick District remain open for business

Local markets across Warwick District remain open for business
Social gatherings of more than six people will be illegal in England from Monday, 15th September - with some exemptions - amid a steep rise in coronavirus cases. The law change will ban larger groups meeting anywhere socially indoors or outdoors, the government said.

However, CJ's Events Warwickshire want to confirm that their weekly retail and special monthly markets will operate as normal until otherwise instructed and encouraging the local community to support their local market during what remains a difficult time for small independent businesses.

Jamie Walker of CJ's Events Warwickshire said: 'This change of law does not impact the running or operation of our markets. Markets are still permitted to go ahead and we continue to follow the latest Government advice. Since returning back in May we've implemented safety measures to ensure we can operate COVID secure markets and continue to work closely with the Environment Health & Senior Management Teams at Warwick District Council.

'The only change the law will impact us is that visitors will be unable to gather in groups larger than 6 within the market area and we're asking all visitors to ensure they adhere to this.

'Our teams have worked extremely hard over the past few months and continue to do so, to ensure we can operate our markets safely. We've got the policies, plans and procedures in place should we need to restrict or reduce our market operations. We will continue to liaise with the local authority and make any necessary changes to ensure we can play our part to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

CJ's Events Warwickshire are continuing to encourage visitors to use hand sanitiser on entry, make payment by card or contactless wherever possible, respect one another's personal space and not to attend if they feel unwell. Regular updates will be posted across social media channels.
